Wyatt 2008

I’m Wyatt. I am a small Great Dane, But I have muscle and lots of energy to play.  I am Heartworm negative, neutered, and have been treated for worms and have my vaccinations already! I like teenagers but I’m not so sure about little kids?  I might knock them over. I am VERY bouncy! I live with some very large brothers and can keep up with them. I love to play in the hose and will do it as long as the water runs. I have good house manners and am working on pottie training. I do good most of the time but forget occasionally. My mom says I have to be watched at meal time because I wander to other bowls and eat the other dogs food. I will need a little training in that dept because I think if they are going to let me I’m going to eat their food. I am not good with getting my nails done. They were rather long and although I know they need to be cut I am just wiggly and not happy about stopping my busy life long enough to get my nails done. My Foster Mom insists on it, but I pitch a bit of a fit. I am kind of a whiney baby, really. Hope you like that kind of dog, because I think I am pretty great just the way I am. I chase stuff so if you have little animals like cats I will chase them. I haven't learned not to yet. I also like to chase squirrels. So watch out as I blow by!  I am good on a leash and very playful with all sizes of dogs. I don't often meet a dog I don't like. In fact, I haven't yet.  I would like a home with big kids to play with , good food , and love. Can you give that to me?

Restrictions

Wyatt is not trustworthy with cats or yard life aka Squirrels, Rodents etc.  He will give chase. Not sure exactly what he will do if he catches, but all indications are he has sinister purposes in mind for furry fast moving friends. Time will tell if this can be trained away. For now, he needs a home without these types of pets already in place. Or will need a  home interested in re-training him and keeping him separated until training is a success.

Restrictions

Wyatt is quite young and rowdy, he WILL knock over small children with his butt while turning around. He won't mean to, but it will hurt anyway.  His tail, like all dane tails packs a punch and will leave a bruise when he is really happy. Small children's faces are just tail wagging height. Please be aware of this. Before you consider adopting such a young, active dane.

  Foster Update July 2008

Maddie is Wyatt's Sister and is also available for adoption, they are being fostered together but will benefit from separate homes in their new adoptive homes.

This week has been good. Wyatt and Maddie are housebroken, and use the dog door. Wyatt did a spite pee the other night because I was cooking and not able to see what he needed ( my fault) . Maddie loves the crate and realizes that she won't be hurt in there and can sleep as sound as she wants. I always put a toy in with her to keep her company. Nails with her are still a challenge and takes two people......... one using the dremmel and the other loving her head. But they are getting shorter, and she is getting better. She uses the doggie door when nobody is looking but if you are paying attention she wants to go out the sliding glass door. She has been very good. Wyatt is calming down and has started to play with the other dogs. Maddie interferes and the play is over. Wyatt is AFRAID of tree frogs ....... can't see them and they are going to get him, we have many tree frogs out here and they are very loud. He will absolutely not go out if they are singing. So I take him out last before dark. He is learning to be gentle when wanting to be petted and with play. He will lay down at the table when meals are served ....... eventually. The others do this. Maddie realizes she isn't going to get any thing so she lays down before him. He still watches over her but not as much now. Guess he knows nothing will hurt her. He seems to keep his nails short and hasn't need them trimmed. I put the tennis ball in his bowl of food and he pushes it out of the bowl to get to the food.
