Special Needs Dane: Deaf White Puppy. LOCAL ADOPTION PREFERRED. See Restrictions Below. See if you are in or out of our local adoption area.

Snap Here, I am quite the puppy! Like any puppy, I like to get into things and I pretty much stay into everything, but what I am famous for is pulling anything made of cloth around the room at warp speed. I bark at the ceiling fans, raindrops, and cars.  I chase my tail...and everything else for that matter! I can empty the doggy toy box in 60 seconds flat. Toys are great but each toy only holds my attention for just about that long as well...My Foster Daddy calls me a fireplug.
I am learning to potty outside but I get distracted along the way so I won't lie to you...there have been  some booboos in the house.  I walk on a leash okay, I am learning.  I will admit I am a bit of a pill. I steal toys from the other danes here. Panzer and MaeC put up with it, but other not-so-patient dogs might not. I add insult to injury as I growl at them when as I am walking off with the toys I steal.

Unlike any other puppy, I am deaf and although I am being taught hand signals I haven't learned a single one yet. Its hard to settle me down enough for me to pay attention to even see them, since I am SO busy doing my own thing. I really LOVE my Foster Mom and I am tucked up under her as she moves from room to room through the day. So there is hope that I will settle down and pay attention at some point. I don't snuggle, yet. I am too wiggly. I will need constant care in my new home and constant training too to overcome my hearing loss. I will be a huge hand full until a breakthrough is made in my training and there will be setbacks along the way too. So the faint of heart or the impatient need not apply to be my new family. I will test you to your limits, you can count on that!

I have sharp baby teeth and I don't hold back using them either. So I am not a good choice with small children, I will not only be nippy until I am older, but I will see them as other puppies and jump up and want to wrestle them. Especially when they don't want to play. If they carry food around the house, they won't be after I have seen it. Even larger kids...8-10 will not appreciate me much. Older kids might like me because they can defend themselves a bit more. I will need a firm, but loving hand to learn what the world expects from me. Until then I will be mighty incorrigible!

I am as cute as a button and the even this back yard looks like a big place to me! Do you have what it takes to help me become a happy, well-trained part of your world?

July Update:

Greetings, I think it's time to update Snaps bio. He has really started to settle down, and in doing so you can get his attention. Steve and Stephanie taught him to sit for a cookie, now he will lay for one too. He goes outside to potty on a regular basis going to the door to be let out. You still have to stay with him (for the praise after going I think). He wants hugs and snuggles on his time now but loves belly rubs...He has also stopped unrolling the toilet paper roll as he ran thru the house at warp speed, but still loves the dirty clothes basket.

Restrictions

Snap is deaf, he is a huge commitment. He will need extended training at home and will need to be enrolled in training classes as well. He is not trustworthy with small children and cannot be left alone with them since he will nip, scratch, and jump on them and wrestle them.  He is not available to homes with children under 5 for this reason. If he is adopted before his training to recognize basic hand signals is complete his new home will need to finish this basic training as well as reinforce this training throughout his entire life.

Restrictions

Snap will be adopted within our adoption area unless you have extended history with raising deaf white pups, deaf dog training credentials, or something of equal value AND we cannot find this same level of quality  home locally.  Be advised if a local home and out of state home are equal in quality, the local home will be chosen.

Please, unless you have something extra ordinary to offer this pup, don't ask us to make exceptions to our adoption policy.

  • When all said and done, my medical costs to rescue will be $350 If you want to help but can't adopt please consider donating to my medical bills. It will help me and those who come after me if my bills are paid.

The donation button above sends funds directly to Snap.

    Thank you!
