Thank YOU!
Please meet Pearl!
At only 14 months old, Pearl is still a puppy, but she has been passed from home to home more times than any dog deserves. She can finally relax, though, because she's now safe and her next home will be her forever home. Pearl is currently a bit of a "pearl in the rough". She's being treated for Demodectic Mange, a non-contagious mite that was handed down from her mother, and is a few pounds underweight. Don't worry though, she'll be looking like a beautiful black Pearl that we know she is before too long! Pearl also suffers from a severe case of entropia, a condition that causes the eye lids to roll in. HGDR is currently evaluating the condition and appropriate treatment.
Now, for all the good stuff about Pearl!!
Pearl is definitely all things a Dane puppy should be when it comes to her personality. Despite her unsettled past, she's managed to stay a happy, bouncy, well-adjusted girl, that loves to play, run and snuggle. She gets along well with other dogs and children. Because of her exuberance, it is recommended Pearl go to a home with children over the age of 5 years. She is a rowdy pup who plays rough even by adult standards, this will subside as she ages. Danes are notoriously lazy adults.
Pearl is fully housebroken and her foster mom is working on the crate-training. Because of her age and puppy-antics, she should be crated anytime she's left to her own devices. As with most Danes, Pearl loves her humans, and will always be at your heels wherever you are. She's a wonderfully loving girl that adores attention and belly rubs. Lucky will be the family that ends up with this girl!
Update on Pearl...
June 14, 2008
Pearl is now Crate Trained!
Age: 14 months
Color: Black, with white toes and chest.
Ears: Natural
Adoption Fee: $300

Tanya Notes:
Pearl is recovering from an outbreak of Demodetic Mange. She will have
outbreaks throughout her life in times of Stress or during times when
her immune system is overtaxed, such as an illness or after vaccinations
etc. This is not contagious to people or other animals. Outbreaks
are easy to control with inexpensive medications.
Pearl has Entropian Eye Disorder. It is a genetic issue correctable by surgery where the eyelid curls inward and irritates her corneas. Her foster mom is working on locating a surgeon and getting Pearl an appointment for surgery. Once she has surgery she should live a very normal life with minimal damage to her eyes, but we are uncertain how much damage this disorder has done to her corneas, already.
Updates to follow.
