Osiris came to rescue after being seized by Animal Control for animal cruelty/neglect.
His previous owner was turned in by a neighbor for refusing to take him to the vet when his tail was injured.
The local animal control went out, looked at him and told the owner she was required to ‘do something’ about his tail within 72 hours.
Two days later, the neighbor called Animal Control again because the owner was in the back yard with scissors cutting off the injured part of the dog’s tail!
...
When animal control arrived, the injury was multiplied and they took
possession of Osiris and took him straight to the vet where they immediately did surgery to repair his tail.
We were contacted and agreed to take him into our program. We contacted the vet to determine when we could pick him up to discover that he had required
a second surgery to attempt to repair the damage…his tail was now only about 8 inches long. We would be able to pick him up in about 3 more days.
When we contacted them again, we discovered that he had required a third surgery…the tail had been so severely damaged that the necrotic tissue was just so
difficult to remove. We were able to pick him up a few days after his 3rd surgery with a bandage on his tail which was now only about 3 inches long.

We couldn’t imagine a dog allowing someone to simply ‘cut off’ his tail with scissors until time for the first dressing change.
What a wonderful dog we had found! Although the bandage was stuck in places on his sore tail, he never acted as though he was upset with us while we soaked and peeled the bandage…several times to remove it!
His tail healed and he began wagging his stump and became a happy playful boy. He is now in a wonderful loving home where he can wag his little tail all day without any fears of what might happen to it!
