My name is Olive and I am a 7 month old Blue Great Dane.

My mommy and Daddy love me very much, and don’t want to give me up. But they are going to have a Human baby soon, and are afraid I might overwhelm a baby. I am a great Doggie, because I don’t go potty in the house (unless my foster Daddy gives me too much water. I LOOOOOOVE Water!!) and I go into my room when my parents tell me to.

Every now and then, I go wee in my room if I’m in there overnight without a trip outside, or if my  mommy and daddy get home from church Late. After all, I am still a puppy. I love people, and other doggies. In fact, I get so excited when people come over; I love to play bite at their hands. Mommy and Daddy are working with me on it. They say people don’t like being bitten at, even if I am just playing. They say that licks are much better, so I’m willing to give it a try.

I have not been around little human babies much, so I might not know how to act gentle around them. I’ve also never been around cats, but they look like fun friends. My sister, a yorkie-poodle mix, and I get along fine, although we can play pretty rough sometimes. She’s pretty tough, and puts me in my place if I get too excited.

I know how to sit and down. I can also stay for a short time, especially if there is a treat involved. In fact, I have to wait outside the food room until I am invited in to eat my food. I love to go on walks, and do well on a leash. When I even see the leash come out, I get really excited. Dad has a hard time getting the collar on me, because I can’t sit still and I play bite at his hands, but once the leash is on we have a great time on walks. I don’t bark much, unless my sister hear or sees someone outside. I sleep in my room (the crate), but I whine a little in the morning when it is time to go outside and eat breakfast.

I like to nap on the couch, but if someone is on the couch, I can only get on when I am invited. (I jump on sometimes without being asked, but when Mom or dad say ”off”, I happily do what they say) I like to ride in the car. I am an inside dog for sure, but I love to play outside in the back yard. After a long day, especially if I have been on a long walk, or played outside for a while, I love to snuggle with mommy and daddy, and nap while they watch TV. I am really loved and hope my new parents will love me as much as my current ones do.

Age: 8 months

Color: Blue

Ears: Natural

Adoption Fee: $300

  Restriction:

Olive is a rowdy pup who enjoys rough play and mouths hands, she has bursts of energy and may not always know where her behind is headed. She could bump and knock down small children in this puppy stage. She will need a training commitment to continue to learn how to be a respectful grown dane. Patience with her in her grown stage. Olive could be overwhelming for families with children under the age of 5, please consider this before applying to adopt Olive.

Thank you!

Adoption News!

June 2008 Olive has been adopted. She is enjoying a new life with Danny and Meghan, loving life and learning not to play bite. She will soon be attending basic obedience classes and her new family is as thrilled to have her as she is to be getting fresh start, many thanks to her former family for the patience they showed with the process of re-homing and for giving Olive such a nice start in the first place! We thank you for choosing rescue!~
