Hello There!

Bloat is when the stomach fills with gas, often from fermentation of undigested food, stress, vigorous activity, or just too much food.

Bloat does not kill, but is it the first stage in a series that leads to an agonizing death if untreated.

Any dog can get gas in their stomachs, but it is only certain breeds who have deadly consequences. Narrow chested dogs, or those without ample room for the stomach to expand are at risk of untreated Bloat becoming Stomach Torsion. ( Gas filled stomach twists with deadly results.)

Veterinarians refer to the process of bloat and torsion as "Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus" or GDV
